The federal government is moving to assert greater control over business regulators, with a proposed new “ministerial expectation” regime to push them to focus on system risks while using smart technologies to better manage day-to-day compliance.

The proposed performance expectation framework is part of a draft Regulator Performance Guide that sets out the government’s expectations for regulator activities and reporting.
