Farmers and miners winners under India free trade deal

Tariffs will be eliminated immediately on 85 per cent of Australian exports to India, with the agriculture and resources sectors the big winners, under an interim free trade agreement to be signed on Saturday.

The agreement will also help ease labour shortages in the technology sector, with top achieving Indian students to be allowed to stay in Australia for three years after graduating to work in the science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) and information technology sectors.
