Dutton warns of recession as PM sidesteps over 2035 target

Peter Dutton says the government’s 2030 emissions reduction target risks driving the weak economy into recession, and that Anthony Albanese will cause more damage by announcing a further target for 2035, as he is required to do by February next year.

However, as the climate wrangle intensified, Mr Albanese declined to guarantee he would unveil the 2035 target before the next election, which is due by May next year at the latest.
