Peter Dutton is set to be elected unopposed as Liberal Party leader, with former environment minister Sussan Ley a frontrunner to become his deputy in the fight against the Albanese Labor government.

Mr Dutton is yet to declare himself a candidate to replace Scott Morrison as the leader of the party, but former home affairs minister Karen Andrews said on Tuesday it was impossible anyone else could take the role.
