For the Liberal Party, the Dunkley byelection was a triumph of expectation over hope.
As The Australian Financial Review reported last Monday, the party’s honest brokers (ie, those not trying to spin) forecast a two-party-preferred swing to the Liberals of between 3 per cent and 4 per cent.
