Second tennis player taken into detention by Australian Border Force

Another tennis player has been detained by Australian Border Force after her visa was cancelled.

The Age reported that veteran Czech player Renata Voracova was granted an exemption that allowed her to enter Australia without being vaccinated, on the basis that she had previously been infected with COVID-19 within the past six months.

This is the same exemption granted to men’s world No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who was refused entry on Wednesday night and is currently being held in immigration detention.

Unlike Djokovic, Voracova has been in the country since December and has already played in a warm-up tournament.
