Top brass in the dark over new commanders

Military chiefs remain in the dark over who will preside over the Defence Force and its three branches, with little indication the Albanese government is moving to appoint new commanders despite senior leadership positions being spilled in three weeks.

The new government needs to appoint a new Chief of the Defence Force and Vice Chief, and new heads of the army, air force and navy, as well as Chief of Joint Operations, who oversees the defence deployments in the field.
