Defence companies told to boost local jobs or lose future contracts
Major defence companies are warned they could be excluded from future projects if they fail to meet contractual obligations to give local suppliers work under new auditing requirements.
Amid complaints that local small and medium enterprises were missing out on work, the Coalition government will announce on Friday plans to beef up the scrutiny of defence contracts, demanding major prime companies fulfil promises to develop a sovereign capability and create jobs.
