The way Tom White speaks of his quest for the “kingmaker seat” of Curtin, as he calls it, seems more fitting for an episode of Game of Thrones than the world of political service (“Former Uber exec takes on teal in ‘kingmaker seat’”).
The seat of Curtin isn’t home to just mining kings and queens such as Andrew Forrest and Gina Rinehart. It is also home to my father, a hard-working career taxi driver of more than 40 years. I saw firsthand the devastation Uber’s entry into WA – then led by Mr White – caused to industries and livelihoods.
