When Prime Minister Anthony Albanese introduced Chris Minns to the raucous crowd on Saturday night in a small, sweaty ballroom, the premier-to-be was mobbed.
At the back of the room, peering over the sea of limbs and iPhones, was Jamie Clements, the scandal-prone party apparatchik whom some Labor officials credit with ushering Minns into parliament among a clutch of new party talent after the crushing 2015 defeat.
