Barnaby Joyce said he would lose his leadership if he supported Scott Morrison in adopting net zero emissions by 2050, in a statement that all but puts paid to the Prime Minister being able to make the commitment before the next election.
In an interview with AFR Weekend, Mr Joyce, who seized back the leadership of his party in June, said his resurrection would be short-lived if he backed net zero.
