‘Care economy’ won’t boost productivity: Wood
Productivity Commission boss Danielle Wood appears to be at odds with Treasurer Jim Chalmers’ argument that increased spending on the care economy would boost overall productivity.
While Dr Chalmers has previously described spending on aged care and the National Disability Insurance Scheme as “investments” that drive higher productivity, Ms Wood was far less optimistic about the prospect of eking out productivity gains from the rapidly expanding sectors.
