Dutton moves to election footing after budget shift, NATO snub

A move by Anthony Albanese to take control of the budget, and his decision to miss next week’s NATO summit in the United States, have prompted Peter Dutton to put the Coalition on a footing for a possible early election.
Although the government insists it intends to go full term, Mr Dutton told his party room to “be ready” for an election as early as September.
