Streaming quotas tipped to force TV behind paywalls
The commercial television industry is warning plans to impose to local content quotas of up to 20 per cent on overseas streaming giants could force up domestic production costs for free-to-air networks and lock more Australian stories behind paywalls.
The Albanese government will confirm on Monday it will impose content requirements on streaming services such as Netflix and Disney+ when it unveils its new national cultural policy.
