Bowen uses gas to fire up offensive on Coalition’s nuclear plans
Energy Minister Chris Bowen claims the Coalition’s energy plans will require spending tens of billions of dollars over the next decade to build and service new gas power plants, as experts warn more gas and fewer renewables would drive up electricity prices.
AGL Energy chairwoman Patricia McKenzie on Wednesday also said the nation “simply cannot wait” until the first of the Coalition’s proposed nuclear power plants is operating, which is unlikely to be before 2035.
