Liberal Party hopes of retaining the key South Australian marginal seat of Boothby have been bolstered after teal independent Jo Dyer landed in trouble over section 44 of the Constitution.

Ms Dyer applied to the British Home Office in December to renounce her British citizenship, but an error on her behalf means she could fall foul of the ban on dual citizens serving in parliament.
