Israel’s ambassador to Australia was hauled in on Tuesday for a meeting with foreign affairs officials, after Prime Minister Anthony Albanese labelled claims by the embassy’s deputy and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that people were not starving in Gaza as “beyond comprehension”.
Albanese told his caucus the denials were even harder to accept, given Israel, which has attributed the starvation claims to Hamas propaganda, had banned journalists from Gaza.
