Junk food advertising on Australian TV would be banned before 9pm as part of a plan from independent MP Sophie Scamps, part of a renewed bid to slow the nation’s growing obesity epidemic.
The Mackellar MP, a former athlete and general practitioner, will move a private member’s bill designed to push advertising for food products with little or no nutritional value to after prime-time viewing hours.
