Australia’s defence chief rejects Chinese spying claims

Australia’s defence chief has rejected Beijing’s claims that a navy helicopter was spying on Chinese military drills when the crew was harassed by a Chinese fighter jet releasing flares in its flight path.

And the United Nations has urged Australia and China to show restraint and avoid exacerbating tensions, despite the Australian crew helping to police UN-mandated sanctions.
