Audit finds Morrison government’s health grants breached federal rules
The Morrison government deliberately breached federal grant rules in its management of a $2 billion program for local health services, exceeding legal authority and failing ethical standards, an official audit has found.
A review by the Australian National Audit Office, released on Monday, said funds from the Community Health and Hospitals Program were selected without proper assessments or guidance, and public servants were forced to monitor media reports to keep track of announcements by the Coalition.
