A shake-up of the Australian Securities and Investment Commission will be unveiled in the new year, with the government currently reviewing the findings of an independent investigation into the corporate watchdog.

The Australian Financial Review understands the final report from an investigation into ASIC conducted by former inspector-general of intelligence Vivienne Thom was handed to Treasury on Thursday.
