Here’s a recap of the main events so far:

--Government strikes deal to pass IR legislation. Workplace Relations Minister Tony Burke says a deal has been struck with Senator David Pocock to pass the industrial relations changes this year.

--IR deal does nothing to address ‘core concerns’ of business: Ai Group. Business slammed the workplace relations deal between the Albanese government and independent senator David Pocock, saying the IR bill deal fails to address industry concerns.

--Pocock is someone the government can work with: Albanese. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says Senator David Pocock is someone the government is happy to work with to pass legislation.

--Matthew Guy to resign as Vic Liberal leader. Matthew Guy says he will step down as leader of the Victorian Liberal Party after his defeat in the state election.

--Labor wins at least 49 seats in Victoria, Libs 24. Labor was on track to win at least 49 seats, above the required 45-seat majority and six less than its “Danslide” victory in 2018. The coalition is poised to secure 24 seats and the Greens at least four.

--‘All of us need to reflect’: Tehan calls for change after election loss. Senior federal Victorian MP Dan Tehan says the Liberal party must learn the lessons of its historic defeat in Victoria’s state election.

--Socceroos skipper Ryan hungry for more. Mat Ryan isn’t dining out on his new-found status as the third Socceroos captain to salute at a World Cup.

--Australia has no fear ahead of first Davis Cup final in 19 years. Lleyton Hewitt’s team are happy to play the role of underdogs in the Davis Cup final against Canada – and will take inspiration from watching the Socceroos do the same at the World Cup.
