Outgoing Premier Daniel Andrews leaves the Victorian Labor Party with a seemingly impregnable grip on power, but a reputation for favouring ruthless political tactics over sound policy processes that likely successor Jacinta Allan will need to work hard to dispel.
Opinions of his legacy are sharply divided. Steve Bracks, the Labor Premier from 1999 to 2008 who gave Andrews his first ministry, said Andrews had largely carried on the “socially progressive and fiscally conservative” style of himself and his successor John Brumby.
