NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance will quit state politics to stand for the federal seat of Gilmore at the next election, a move backed by Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

The Bega MP on Sunday confirmed his plan to resign from the NSW Parliament by the end of the year, coming as the NSW Liberal Party scrambles to elect a leader to replace outgoing Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
