Albanese to extend paid parental leave to 26 weeks

New parents will be entitled to 26 weeks of paid parental leave to share between them under an expansion of the taxpayer-funded scheme, in a move Anthony Albanese says will close the gender pay gap, boost women’s workforce participation and lift productivity.
Declaring the measure a key economic reform, the prime minister will unveil the expansion from 18 weeks to 26 weeks at the ALP’s NSW state conference on Saturday.
