Welfare advocates have criticised Labor for dropping plans to increase the JobSeeker unemployment payment if Anthony Albanese becomes the next prime minister, warning support for vulnerable Australians should not be used as a political football.
Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese on Wednesday denied the party had “dumped” plans for a review of the rate, currently worth $642.70 a fortnight, or about $46 a day.
