Vientiane | Anthony Albanese first visited Laos nearly 40 years ago, arriving as a young research officer for Labor legend Tom Uren.
The future Australian prime minister was on one of his first trips overseas, attending a conference organised by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia – a diplomatic mouthful known as ESCAP.
