Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is confident a Chinese military base will not be established in Solomon Islands following his first face-to-face meeting with that country’s leader, Manasseh Sogavare.
Mr Albanese met Mr Sogavare on the sidelines of the Pacific Islands Forum in Fiji on Wednesday afternoon and sat next to him at the leaders’ dinner that night.
