Anthony Albanese has claimed a clear mandate for a majority government, after the party won two critical seats to bring its numbers in Parliament to 77 MPs.

More than a week after the federal election, Labor won the Melbourne seat of Macnamara late on Monday night. On Tuesday, Gilmore MP Fiona Phillips claimed victory over former NSW transport minister and Liberal candidate Andrew Constance.
