Key Points

Victoria will exit lockdown at midnight tonight with schools, offices, pubs to reopen.
NSW has 172 new local cases; 169 people are in hospital, 19 are on ventilators.
Of the 172 cases, 79 were infectious while in the community for their full (60) or partial (19) infectious period plus cases under investigation (32), hit a new high.
South Australia has no new local cases and will exit lockdown at midnight.
Queensland has no new local cases.

The main headlines:

Greater Sydney will stay in lockdown for another month, but the construction industry will be able to restart on Saturday.
NSW has reported 172 new locally acquired cases. Of those, 79 were in the community for at least part of their infectious period, including 60 for the entirety. There are currently more than 2100 active infections in the state.
Lockdown restrictions for three regional NSW councils will be lifted from Wednesday.
In Victoria, lockdown will be lifted from midnight, but no private home visits will be allowed for the next two weeks and the mask mandate remains.
Three crew members from a COVID-19 infected cargo ship docked off Fremantle are “critically ill” and are receiving treatment onshore.
Victorian Chief Health Officer Brett Sutton says there will probably need a vaccination level up to 80 per cent to combat the more infectious variants such as the delta variant.
