ABC says archives cuts won’t hurt storytelling
Plans by the ABC to cut 58 archives and librarian jobs won’t hurt the national broadcaster’s ability to tell Australian stories and come as part of a modernisation program designed to speed up reporting, the managing director said on Thursday.
As the public service union warned that further sacking of specialist staff put the ABC’s reputation as the nation’s most trusted storyteller at risk, boss David Anderson defended the plan and said consultation was ongoing.
