Labor MP says Israel should be condemned for ‘annihilation’

A Labor backbencher has broken ranks to say Israel should be condemned for the “annihilation of Palestinian civilians”, as independent MPs Allegra Spender, Zoe Daniel and Monique Ryan distanced themselves from their fellow teals over the issue.

First-term WA senator Fatima Payman, an Afghan-born Muslim, told parliament that while the world loudly condemned Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, “today the world watches as the state of Israel deprives the entire population – men, women and children – of the basic necessities of life”.
