East coast low to bring more heavy rain to NSW

An intense low-pressure system developing off the coast of NSW is expected to bring heavy rainfall to flood-ravaged parts of the state, as the Defence Department deploys an additional 3000 personnel to help with flood recovery operations.

Defence said on Sunday that it would boost the number of personnel assisting in recovery efforts across Queensland and NSW to 5000 from 2010. At least 16 people have died from the flooding in the two states.
