Coal-fired Eraring blocking Origin’s access to capital: chairman

Origin Energy’s investment in the Eraring coal-fired power station was a sticking point with investors and a clamp on attracting capital, secret documents outlining the company’s pitch to offload the loss-making plant to the NSW government reveal.

The dossier also reveals how Origin executives channelled uncertainty over potential delays to the Snowy 2.0 project in negotiations on the deal, telling the government the $10 billion Snowy project had the state’s energy supply “over a barrel”.
