Queensland businessman and Labor stalwart Ian Brusasco helped return the ALP from the political wilderness of the 1970s and 1980s and set it up for life through his canny financial investments, according to former premier Peter Beattie.

Tributes flowed in for Mr Brusasco, who died late last week aged 92, for his contribution to the ALP, business and community over the past 66 years.
