‘Bureaucratic gobbledegook’ holding up Closing the Gap

Governments are avoiding being held to account for failing to close the gap of disadvantage between Indigenous and other Australians by hiding behind “a miasma of bureaucratic gobbledegook” and long lists of “actions” that produce few outcomes, the Productivity Commission has been told.

The commission, in a report released on Wednesday, found that governments by and large have failed to meet their commitments under the 2020 national Closing the Gap agreement.
