Rental system popular

Macquarie Bank Ltd says it has had 100,000 users of its rental payment system since the system started. Known as the DEFT Rent Card, it allows tenants of agencies banking with Macquarie to pay their rent at any Target store, Post Office or by phone. The bank said the system, started in 1995, "has resulted in significant cost savings and faster payments to landlords". In another move, Macquarie has established a strategic alliance with the Real Estate Institute of New South Wales. The institute "is looking forward to extending the services and benefits it offers members", president, Mr Stephen Francis, said. AAP
