PROFESSOR ON RBA BOARD

PROFESSOR Adrian Pagan of the Australian National University, a specialist in econometrics, has been appointed to the board of the Reserve Bank of Australia for a term of five years. The Treasurer, Mr Willis, said Professor Pagan would fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Professor Bob Gregory from the board in late November. Mr Willis said Professor Pagan, currently at the ANU's Institute of Advanced Studies, has had an outstanding academic career in econometrics. Professor Pagan was educated at the University of Queensland and received his doctorate from ANU. He has undertaken consultancies on econometric modelling for the Federal Treasury, the NZ Reserve Bank and Treasury. - Stephen Ellis
