Baird: Voters hate sell-offs, but they love the rewards
Voters are inherently sceptical of asset sell-offs but privatisation can deliver efficiency gains and improved dividends to the government on assets, according to former NSW premier Mike Baird.
The former premier and treasurer, who presided over the $15 billion privatisation of the state’s electricity transmission network and the $5 billion NSW ports sale, has urged political leaders to rethink their hard line on asset recycling in the next term.
