Former trade minister Stuart Ayres could be set to return to cabinet after a review of his role in John Barilaro’s appointment to a US trade post cleared him of breaching a ministerial code of conduct.
The review by former ICAC inspector Bruce McClintock, SC, released on Monday, found Mr Ayres complied with ministerial guidelines.
