Governments should work to end stamp duty
Major developers are calling on state and federal governments to put their differences aside and agree to get rid of stamp duty and replace the country's "most inefficient" tax with a mix of reforms to corporate, personal and even new land taxes.
Nathan Blackburne, managing director of ASX-listed developer Cedar Woods, said there was widespread support for abolishing the state-based duty on home sales and all tiers of government should work together to replace it with less detrimental measures.
