AustralianSuper pays members back $4.2m over claims handling delays
AustralianSuper is repaying $4.2 million to deceased members’ loved ones as compensation for taking too long to process their death benefit claims, amid warnings from the corporate watchdog that funds must clean up their customer service urgently or face penalties.
The industry superannuation giant is voluntarily making the repayments as part of a sweeping restructure to its customer operations after an internal review of claims processing revealed members were getting subpar service.
