NSW law thwarts rapid national response to omicron

Efforts to quickly assess how effective vaccines are against the omicron variant are being thwarted by NSW laws banning the distribution of blood samples taken from the state’s omicron cases.

The NSW Human Tissue Act defines the virus isolates as human-derived tissue and therefore not for distribution without patient consent.
