One in seven students sitting NSW higher school certificate exams are seeking special assistance including rest breaks and help reading and writing, under disability provisions that have doubled in use in the past dozen years.
The latest data from the NSW Education Standards Authority reveals that 15.4 per cent of all Higher School Certificate students applied for disability provisions in 2024, up from 7.5 per cent in 2011.
