Australian National University has posted the second-largest deficit in the country’s higher education history, suffering a $162 million shortfall last year as it was battered by the pandemic and its own policies to downsize student enrolments.
ANU’s sizeable deficit, which was announced to staff on Friday, is in sharp contrast to Sydney University which on Thursday reported a $106 million surplus.
