‘Stabilisation’ shouldn’t straitjacket deeper economic ties with China

Since coming to office he has consistently pursued “stabilisation” in Australia’s relations with China. He now regularly points to its glittering prizes: the removal of most of China’s punitive tariffs and the resumption of annual leaders meetings.
