With a few spectacular billionaire exceptions such as Elon Musk, business leaders in the United States have become the ultimate shy voters – most are reluctant to express a view on a very close presidential election.

In a country so polarised, corporate America fears becoming a political target, particularly for Donald Trump’s abuse. There’s certainly no desire to win a place on his “enemies within” list.
