Navy shipbuilder Austal flags settlement to avoid US litigation

Austal Limited has flagged paying tens of millions in a settlement to head off prosecution as US regulators continue a long-running investigation in fraud allegations.
The Forrest family-backed shipbuilder has enlisted the US and Australian defence departments for support in its negotiations with the US Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission.
