Investors in mining and exploration companies with assets in Peru are running scared.

Not only has left-wing nationalist Ollanta Humala won the presidential election this month after making threats to raise taxes and royalties on miners, but outgoing President Alan Garcia cancelled the legal title over a silver project owned by Canadian-listed Bear Creek Mining this week following local anti-mining protests.
