Former prime minister John Howard has given his take on gun control in an opinion piece in The New York Times.
In the piece titled ‘I went after guns. Obama can, too’, Mr Howard describes how he introduced stricter gun laws in Australia after the 1996 Port Arthur massacre in the face of strong opposition from farmers and many of the Coalition’s supporters.
